Ireland has announced the national gum litter education campaign for 2016. The Gum Litter Task Force (GLT) has been hugely successful with the National Litter Pollution Monitoring System showing an overall decrease in people dropping gum from 26% when the campaign started in 2007, to 11% in the latest results.
Bin It! is a key part of the GLT education campaign and will visit schools across Ireland this Autumn with a roadshow designed to educate pupils about correct litter disposal, especially chewing gum.
Speaking at the launch of the nationwide school’s education campaign, Paul Kelly, Chairman of the GLT said: “The Bin It! programme is an innovative and engaging way of educating children about proper litter disposal and the benefits of such behaviour. It has had great success to date and I wish the team all the best with the current campaign.”
The Bin It! roadshow is a key part of the campaign and provides many other resources to combat litter. The Bin It! education pack contains teacher notes, activity cards, resource cards, posters and can be downloaded from this site, along with fun games and videos which also has a range of games for students to enjoy.
