Get involved and Bin It Your Way!

4th November 2020

This week at Bin It! we were thrilled to launch Bin It Your Way, a schools competition with the chance to win £500 in sports vouchers for your school!

In case you missed it, we teamed up with the England Women’s football team, the Lionesses, to show us how to Bin It Your Way! Watch the ladies in action in our Bin It Your Way video and maybe pick up some tips from the professionals! Read more about the competition entry requirements and important T&Cs in our blog post.

We know that litter problems have been increasing since the schools went back and we’re here to help remind students about responsible litter behaviour. We would normally visit your school to perform our legendary Bin It! performance, however, with things being a bit different this year our tours are on hold.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t still join in the Bin It! fun! Are there Bin It! heroes at your school? Why not take part in the competition by posting a video of students (30 seconds max), binning some litter in the most fun, creative or silly way you know. The winner of the competition will be the video with the most likes at the deadline.

If you’re struggling to think of some creative ways to Bin It Your Way, we’ve come up with some fun video ideas to get you started. Just remember, you have to Bin It! to Win It!

1. Try a trick shot! You’ve seen the Lionesses do their thing in our campaign video – why not try a cool trick shot yourself? Whether this is dancing, jumping, flipping or skipping your litter into the bin, use your talents to give your litter a cool journey to the bin.

2. Use some obstacles! Why don’t you use some obstacles to make the litter’s journey to the bin as challenging and fun as possible? You could throw it over something, under something, or from far away! Make sure you can fit it all in in 30 seconds, but making the video as engaging as possible will help you to create a real buzz on Twitter.

3. Create your own bin! Why not decorate a bin with some fun artwork, or turn it into a cool character! Then, when you throw your litter into the bin your artistic skills will be on display for the world to see. The Lionesses had stickers on their bin in our campaign video, why not try something like that?

4. Get some friends involved! While you must be sure to remain COVID-19 safe, why not try to get some of your friends involved in your video? Whether using some clever editing, or being socially distanced in a park, getting friends and family involved in your video is a great way to make it fun!

Once you’ve had a great time filming your clip, make sure to share the competition details with your friends and family and encourage other schools to take part! We want to encourage as many schools as possible to get involved in the competition and share the importance of binning your litter responsibly.

However you choose to Bin It Your Way, practice makes perfect, so try out your video idea a couple of times before Tweeting your video from the school account. Remember to tag us @BinIteducation, and include the #BinItYourWay competition tag so that we can see your video. Remember to check out the T&Cs to make sure your entry is valid. We can’t wait to see your entries!
